The Secret Cinema Partnership is here!

Love Da Popcorn promised big news and here it is. We are proud, and more than a bit excited, to announce a partnership with Secret Cinema!!

Secret Cinema, and Future Shorts create live cinema experiences like no other. They are the principle forces behind a new resurgence in film culture (we believe) and creators of some of the most amazing film experiences of the last few years. They have been described as the saviour of cinema, the best movie night out in Britain and the true spirit of underground cinema. And we agree! Love Da Pop are big fans of creating a new and revitalized cinema, and making people smile through a bit of surprise and mystery. So we hope it is the perfect match.

We will be supplying them with our trademark white chocolate, salt and pepper and caramel Kiss flavours. But we are also planning night and day in Love Da Popcorn Towers (sometimes even sleeping there) to create some amazing new flavours. "Merry Popcorn everyone", which includes cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves is my favourite, but we are also experimenting with chili, candy floss, and peanut butter.

So look out for us at the next Secret Cinema event. And remember, tell no-one.

Aubin Cinema, Selfridges AND Silent Cinema. Crikey.

And the previous post reminds us- this is our second Selfridges event and we failed to upload the first.

For Halloween we worked with the incredible Silent Cinema, the fantastic Aubin Cinema (go and try the couches if you haven't already) and of course our favourite department store, Selfridges- for a special Halloween screening of... wait for it... Halloween. The terrifying spectre of Michael Myers (not that one) was accompanied by the full popcorn set up with two machines ('Meghan' and 'Fox'), our vintage suitcases and ourselves.

Selfridges and Tate Britain

It has been a big week for Love da Popcorn and we have loved every minute of it. On Thursday we were honoured and very excited to be in the amazing Tate Britain, at an event held for Advent International. It was a beautiful space and our black and white bags perfectly matched the marble floor. We hope to be working with them again very soon.

On Sunday we appeared at the Really Really Great Garage Sale at Selfridges. It was all for the FRODO Charity, and loads of money was raised. Highlights for us included selling to Melanie Blatt and Louise Rednapp, though they weren't the biggest stars, as you can see below. If anyone knows where we can get some costumes like that for our next event, get in touch!

The Observer Food Awards

In what has been perhaps our most intimidating event yet, we supplied popcorn to the Observer Food Monthly awards. We were not winning a prize unfortunately, but were supplying 3 flavours to be included in the goody bags, going to all the winners and critics. As always the popcorn was handmade and flavoured, and we used blue and purple bags. We are awaiting an email from Heston.

Our congratulations to all the winners. We hope to be working with the Observer again soon.

The Saatchi & Saatchi 40th anniversary

On Thursday we supplied popcorn to the Saatchi & Saatchi 40th Anniversary. The event attracted a lot of media attention from the Guardian, Telegraph, This is London and Channel 4. The event was held in the Saatchi Gallery to celebrate 40 years since the brothers started the now world famous agency. There were over 1000 guests, including the likes of Margaret Thatcher, John Major, Alistair Campbell and Bob Geldof.

The event was a huge success, and one we were honoured to be a part of. Bob Geldof was seen eating some of our delicious popcorn and though we can't be sure, he seemed to be enjoying it. You can find more images of the event in the photos section.

Starlite Drive-in

Starlite Drive-in Cinema have successfully completed their first event, in East London's Truman Brewery.

Love Da Popcorn supplied popcorn for the press screening, and the two sold-out film nights (Grease and Dirty Dancing). We had positive comments throughout, and by all accounts it was a great success. We hope to be working with the Starlite team again in the future. Watch this space.
